DESCRIPTION The main objective of deaeration is to eliminate any air present in the product to be processed. In many cases, it is advisable to remove air as it may increase thermal resistance and heating load during treatment. This is because the air absorbs some of the heat applied to the product, thus reducing the overall thermal performance of the heat exchanger. The presence of air in many products, such as food, stimulates oxidation and can be detrimental to the shelf life or quality of the product. HRS has developed an air removal (deaeration) module that can be mounted on the production line prior to heat treatment.
